The Westmont Special Events Committee assists the community in the successful development, promotion and execution of various special events. Events chosen by the WSEC are based on need for assistance, potential community interest and the availability of the WSEC Board to undertake the project based on time and resources.

Electronic Recycling Program @ Highway Department Facility

Downers Grove Township Electronics Recycling Program 8 a.m to Noon at their Highway Department Facility at 318 E. Quincy Street in Westmont. The program will be held on the third Saturday of each month, unless that date falls on a holiday. There are a few program changes including a charge for TVs. AVA Recycling will be the new recycling vendor. For more info go to AVArecycling.com or call 847-397-2900

Mollie’s War author, Cyndee Schaffer, discusses women in the military during WWII and in particular, her mother’s experiences as a member of the Women’s Army Corps (WAC). Using excerpts from Mollie’s letters written home to her family, Schaffer takes you on her mother’s journey and discusses the writing process, from working with her mother to finding a publisher.

Westmont Park District Event – Bites with the Bunny @ Westmont Park District

All Ages! It’s going to be an Eggs-tra special morning with the Easter Bunny! Your family can begin the holiday with a scrumptious bite-sized breakfast buffet of assorted muffins, bagels, doughnut holes, fresh fruit and delicious cakes. There’s also plenty of milk, apple juice, orange juice and coffee. Little hands will be busy while they decorate their own egg and color an Easter picture to try to win a prize. Take all the pictures you want with our special guest � the Easter Bunny! He’lll be there all morning to pose for pictures with infants, children and the entire family. No need to wait in long lines at the mall! Then, it’s just a hop away to the Little League Field for the annual Easter egg hunt to collect colorful eggs filled with candy and prizes. Don�t forget the camera to take pictures of this memorable morning! Doors open promptly at 9:15am. You must pre-register. Sorry, no walk-ins. Hurry, this is a sell-out event! Children under age 2 are free.

Westmont Park District Event – Easter Egg Hunt @ Veterans Memorial Park
Apr 15 @ 10:30 am

Ages: 2-9 Hop on over to Veterans Park to gather colorful eggs filled with candy and toys! You’ll have an egg-cellent time at our traditional egg hunt held next to the Community Center on the Little League baseball field. Don’t forget to bring your favorite Easter basket to collect all your treasures. Children will be divided into four age categories. Adults may accompany their 2-3 year olds and special needs children. Included in the fun is 4-5 year olds, 6-7 year olds and 8-9 year olds who must find the eggs all on their own. If you happen to find a special �golden egg,� you will receive an extra prize! Don’t be late as the egg hunt starts on time and only takes a few minutes of furious egg gathering. Our special guest will be the Easter Bunny himself who will be there to greet you! Don�t forget the camera! No registration necessary.
