The Westmont Special Events Committee assists the community in the successful development, promotion and execution of various special events. Events chosen by the WSEC are based on need for assistance, potential community interest and the availability of the WSEC Board to undertake the project based on time and resources.

The Last Straw Fall Event @ Gregg House Museum
Oct 2 @ 12:00 pm – 1:00 pm

Bring the whole family and experience bales of fun at the Gregg House Museum. Most activities are FREE! …make a scarecrow (nominal fee)…meet a bee keeper…see an awesome animal show…learn about chickens and cows…pan for gold or minerals (nominal fee)…create some cool crafts, make rope…play some fun games…treat yourself to some home-made goodies at the bake sale…pumpkin decorating (sponsored by Westmont Chamber of Commerce) For an $8 fee per family, The Garden Club of Downers Grove will help you make a great scarecrow for your yard. Fee includes pillow case for the head, straw, a wood stand, hay and some materials. Please bring clothes (pants, shirt) and any unique items you’d like to use to decorate your scarecrow. Items should be environmentally friendly (no perishable goods) and weather resistant. We have extra clothes on hand to share. Event will be held rain or shine!

A Friendly Scarecrow Tale @ Twin Lakes Woods
Oct 15 @ 4:00 pm – 5:00 pm

Walk with us on the Twin Lakes trail for the tale of, “The Little Old Lady Who Wasn’t Afraid of Anything.” Listen closely and you will hear�two shoes go clomp, clomp, two white gloves go clap, clap, one pair of pants go wiggle, wiggle, and one shirt go shake, shake, and one big scary pumpkin face go BOO, BOO! After the story, we�’ll gather around a warm, toasty fire for some festive fall refreshments and yummy s’mores. Be sure to bring along your camera for a great photo opportunity with a friendly scarecrow following the event. Please register early since space is limited for this event.

Haunted Forest – Asylum! @ Twin Lakes Park
Oct 22 @ 5:00 pm – 9:30 pm

Twin Lakes Woods will come alive for one very magical, mystical night! Participants will walk for the first part of the tour. Then narrators will tell you the story of the haunted woods as they conduct guided tours on hayracks. The theme for 2016 is Asylum. Don’t turn your back, as characters, ghouls and creatures will come alive before your very eyes! We will again offer our Merry Monsters Matinee performance from 5:00- 6:30 pm for the younger children. …TICKET SALES END AT 9:00PM. …Each tour will last approximately 10 minutes, and tours will be ongoing so you may arrive at any time. …Due to the popularity of the event, there may be a short wait. Entertainment will be providing during the wait. …Note: please park along 59th St., at Twin Lakes Golf Club or the Twin Lakes Learning Center. New this year, we offer the Haunted Events Fast Pass. Don’t wait in the long line any more. Bypass all others that bough a regular ticket. The fast pass allows excess to Woodridge Haunted Forest Walk and Downers Grove Suburban Horror Story. Visit all three in one night or over a weekend. The Fast Pass will cost $30 and will be only available to purchase before the event for Westmont and Downers Grove. Woodridge will only be selling the Fast Pass the day of the event.

Halloween Fun Fair @ WCC
Oct 31 @ 4:30 pm – 7:00 pm

Calling creepy monsters, ghosts, pirates and fairies to come out and join the nightmare of Halloween at the Westmont Community Center. It will be trick or treat fun with lots of laughter as you try your luck at awesome carnival games and earn great prizes along the way. There’s even a bounce house to jump in! You’ll have some spooky fun when a breathtaking magic show takes you into the unknown .You won’t believe your eyes! No time for dinner? Not to worry! We have a Monster menu with delicious pizza available for you to sink your fangs into. Join the excitement and you’ll be sure to scream for Halloween while having a safe, indoor, fun time! FREE! Games: 4:30P Concessions: 4:30P Parade of Costumes: 5:45P Showtime: 6:00-6:45P

The Westmont Special Events Corporation is led by an all volunteer Board of Directors. The Board of Directors is responsible determining the direction of and leading the coordination of all WSEC events.
